12 months ago, I bought a 1999 Mitsubishi Delica with a 4m40 2.8TD engine (diesel).

The vehicle itself has done 120,000 miles and runs very well.

There is a very slight oil leak somewhere.

There is no service history with the vehicle.

I bought the vehicle as I am looking at converting it into a campervan and going on a round-the-world adventure starting sometime next year. I recently acquired a fully stocked workshop/car garage for the next four months to concentrate on the conversion.

Mechanics:

As I now have space, time, tools and physical help, is it wise/beneficial to pull the engine out and give it a complete overhaul?

If no overhaul is required, what would be your main concerns?

I have always done my own repairs and I can confidently say I can do the job, my main reason to ask is wondering is it really worth it?

My main worry would be any issues while on the road. Also, the timing chain as far as I am aware of has never been changed.

Thank you

I bought a new car in the month of April 2019 but from the past few weeks, I have been experiencing very very hot air coming from all the vents.

The temperature is high to an extent wherein it becomes unbearable and I have to switch on AC (currently it's pleasant outside in my city so AC was not required).

I recently measured the temperature and it was greater than 44 degrees Celcius/108 degrees Farahenite. And I am sure I experienced hotter than this.

So bit worried and wanted to seek an opinion from the experts. Sharing some data:

AC unit type: Automatic Climatic Control

Route: Office to Home

Distance: 6 KM

AC status: Off

Re-circulation mode: Off

Windows: Rolled down

Temperature: 43 degrees Celcius/108 degrees Fahrenheit

Recently I have noticed some strange things happen with my 2005 Volkswagen Fox 1.4 petrol engine. On rainy days the engine always stalls when I stop, sometimes check engine light starts to blink, however it is rare. I always have to keep it above 2000 RPM otherwise the engine starts to sputter and stalls. But this happens only when it is humid, on sunny days there are no problems.

There seems to be no power loss when I speed it up above 2000 RPM.

When I bought the car, half year ago, the previous owner told me that he replaced the ignition module and spark wires so I just changed spark plugs.

I tried to investigate this by myself: I rechecked all plugs, there were no carbon build up or something out of ordinary, I checked each spark wire and they too seem to be good (no cracks, etc...). But I have noticed that there is spark coming from the connection between one spark wire and ignition module pin. First I thought that the wire boot might have microcracks, but then I switched the wires and again the spark was coming only from this one exact ignition module pin. I unscrewed the ignition module and inspected it but there were no cracks. I sprayed dielectric spray on all connections but this didn't help.

I am sorry if this is a dumb question, but could it be that the wire boots are too short for this ignition module pins? Or is it more likely that ignition module is the problem and I should replace it?

This is how the wires and ignition module look:

I have a new Kia Stonic 2020 1.0L T-GDi ISG , got it on July and 8500km on it

It already had an issue with miscalibrated hill assist sensor (already fixed) so I wonder if it has other issues ... what I’ve noticed:

With the car off , if I shift the gear into reverse (using the clutch properly of course) it makes a clanking noise. Same for 1st and 2nd but not 4th and 5th. Is this normal?? I never tried it right after I got it so not sure

The car vibrates a lot when accelerating even on slight uphill at around 1200-1600 rpm. It seems to have some sort of resonance at around 1450, goes away entirely by 1600. It’s a low vibration that shakes the interior slightly. It isn’t huge but it is disconcerting , it doesn’t sound “good” like it does at 2k+ rpm. However it doesn’t happen on 1st gear so may be just need to keep in higher gear , but needing to stay above 1600 rpm I feel a bit limited.

The idling rpm fluctuates from 1200 to 800 right after starting it , I hear this is normal though

The low vibrations happen while idling too. If I slowly rev to 2k then let acceleration go, as it’s dropping back down it passes through some rpm where it does the low vibration , and canbe rattly once it gets to 800

I made this video of reviving while idling , as the rpms go down they go down smooth and then sort of glitch at 1450:

thanks in advance for help and sorry if this is all normal! It’s my first new car so just wanna be sure I maintain it properly.

I used a Black & Decker 15 amp charger to check the battery and after probably 20 minutes it said FLO, or float, which I think means that the charger thinks the battery is completely charged and in float mode. The car still won't turn over or start at all, no radio or A/C. Please help. I know some possibly culprits are the starter and alternator, or possibly the ignition switch, barring my battery itself going bad.

I recently installed new brake shoes on my car's rear drum brakes. Although the brakes are working ok I noticed the shoes are rubbing slightly on one wheel. It's only rubbing on one spot and I can still spin the wheel quite easily. Would that indicate that there's a problem with the drum? There's nothing obviously wrong with the drum and the brakes are installed correctly.
