Different wheel finishes require different cleaning techniques (methods)! Let's discuss how to avoid damaging your wheels and keep them looking great. Painted/Machined Wheels To maintain a “factory appearance” on this painted/machined finish wheel, frequent cleaning is needed. Only use water & mild detergent when gutting this wheel. Chrome-Plated Wheels The chrome-plated wheel does not have any protectants on the finish to prevent "oxidation" (Rust). "oxidation" (Rust) is not covered by warranty. To prevent "oxidation" (Rust) and maintain a factory “appearance,” frequent cleaning with water & mild soap and approved non-acidic & non-lye-based cleaners is needed. Polished Wheels This wheel doesn't have any protectants on the raw aluminum face to prevent oxidation. Also, to maintain “factory appearance”, frequent cleaning with water & mild soap and approved polished cleaners are needed. PVD Wheels This wheel is coated with a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) process. Meaning of PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition), Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is one of the vacuum coating processes in which the film of coating material is usually deposited atom by atom on a substrate by condensation from the vapor phase to the solid phase." That coating process has been applied to this wheel to prevent oxidation. So, maintain “factory appearance”, ONLY clean this wheel with water & mild soap.
